The Friends is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing philanthropic support for Bassett Healthcare Network. We connect caring members of our community with opportunities to make a difference through the power of philanthropy.
Fostering Healthy Rural Communities
Since its inception in 1968, the Friends of Bassett has supported Bassett Healthcare Network. We connect donors who want to give to programs that will impact patient care and community health in meaningful ways. This community support makes a tangible difference, funding state-of-the art equipment, new programs and initiatives, and medical education—all to benefit the individuals and families living in Central New York. Here are some of the key projects Friends of Bassett, together with our donors, have supported over the past three years:
- Expansion of school-based health centers across the network
- Supporting educational opportunities for our nurses, who are a vital part of Bassett and play an essential role in the care of our patients
- Expansion of the K-9 program adding security across the network
- Funding for the mobile cancer-screening coach serving the uninsured or underinsured population of our rural communities
- Funding to support the John-May Farm Safety Fund to assist local farm operations with repairs and safety upgrades
- Planned extension of the Bassett Cancer Institute at Fox Care Center
- Support for the Fieldstone Assistance Fund to help Employees who find themselves in difficult financial circumstances
