The Friends of Bassett is a nonprofit 501 (c) (3) organization. All gifts are tax-deductible. We accept cash, checks, credit cards, electronic funds transfers, and additional types of non-cash gifts.

Types of Financial Gifts and Non-Cash Assets
The most straightforward way to support Friends of Bassett is with cash gifts, including payments with cash, checks, credit cards, and electronic fund transfers. All cash gifts qualify for a charitable tax deduction. Please contact our office at (607) 547-3928 to set up an electronic fund transfer.
Give a gift of securities such as stocks, bonds, and mutual funds. Making a gift of appreciated securities can be a tax-efficient way to support Bassett Healthcare Network by helping you reduce or eliminate capital gains tax. For information on how you can make a gift of stock, please contact our office at (607) 547-3928. If you are ready to make your gift, contact your broker with the following information:

Gifts of personal property can be a valuable option when considering a significant charitable contribution. You will need to secure an independent appraisal of the property to establish the amount of your deduction. You may also arrange for life income to be paid to you in return for your gift. Contact our office at (607) 547-3928 if you are considering a gift of personal property.
A qualified charitable distribution (QCD) is a direct transfer of funds from your IRA custodian, payable to a qualified charity such as the Friends of Bassett. You must be 70 ½ years of age or older to be eligible to make a QCD. This gift is credited against the required minimum distribution and is not taxable or deductible.
The Friends of Bassett is happy to assist donors and their advisers on estate planning, including:
- Bequests: Naming Friends of Bassett in your will can allow you to make a more substantial gift than you might otherwise have thought possible.
- Non-cash Assets: Assets such as real estate and retirement plans can be turned into gifts with immediate tax benefits.
- Income-Producing Gifts: Creating a charitable remainder unitrust (CRUT) or gift annuity with the Friends of Bassett can provide you and/or your loved ones with income for the duration of your lives or a term of years.
- Charitable Lead Trusts: Establishing a charitable lead trust can provide an inheritance to loved ones at a minimal tax cost.

A gift-in-kind is a voluntary contribution of goods or services that can be used to advance the mission of the Friends of Bassett. This gift may qualify as a charitable deduction.

Other Ways to Support the Friends of Bassett
Tribute gifts are a meaningful way to show that you care. To recognize a caregiver, note a friend’s special occasion, or remember a departed family member, please select Tribute when you a give online or enclose a note with your payment. All tribute gifts are recognized in our annual report publication, and we are happy to send the family or caregivers notice of any gifts made in their memory or honor.
The Friends of Bassett works with area businesses and foundations who share an interest in improving the health of the communities we serve. With the support of our corporate partners and grants, we have funded medical school scholarships, brought new technologies online, and expanded access to primary care—just to name a few. Bassett Healthcare Network provides life-saving care to the people who need it most, and our corporate partners and foundations help further this mission.
