The Friends of Bassett Healthcare Network receives thousands of gifts each year from members of our communities. These gifts are designated for many different purposes, but all support an underlining commitment to providing quality health care close to home. 100 percent of all donations benefit the program or hospital of your choice.
Areas of Need
When you support the Friends of Bassett, you help sustain our network of leading services such as the Heart Care Institute, the Cancer Institute, and Primary Care. In addition, your commitment augments unique programs like School-Based Health and our K-9 Security Program, which support accessible care for 7,000 children and the important job of Bassett’s Security Department, respectively.
Bassett Cancer Institute Initiative
Cancer is one of the most common chronic diseases in the United Sates. Due to the rising number of cancer patients in our rural region, more access is needed. An expansion of the Bassett Cancer Institute at Fox Care Center will increase access for cancer patients both in Oneonta and at the Bassett Medical Center location, and will provide a more comfortable, soothing cancer care environment for patients.
Bassett Convenient Care Cooperstown
Bassett Healthcare Network seeks to build a new convenient care center just south of Cooperstown at its Hartwick Seminary Specialty Services complex. A nearby convenient care center that takes appointments and walk-ins will provide easy access to necessary health care for those minor illnesses and injuries that need timely, but not emergency attention.
School-Based Health
In rural central New York, many children live at or below the poverty level in communities where healthcare is not available. Children are among those least likely to receive routine healthcare and be insured, and most likely to require emergency medical services. Recognizing this gap in healthcare, Bassett Healthcare Network established its School-Based Health program, the largest rural program of its kind in New York State.
Nursing Education
Our nurses make a positive impact every day on the lives of in patients our care. By providing our nurses with quality education throughout all stages of their careers, we ensure that our nurses and organization are recognized for quality, evidence-based practice, and patient safety. Our Nightingale Fund for Nursing Excellence offers educational support and opportunities for nurses throughout the Bassett Network.
K-9 Security
Bassett’s growing K-9 Security team helps to elevate the level of safety and security we provide to caregivers and our patients. The program was developed to help meet the increased security needs healthcare workers face today. K-9 units quickly defuse tense situations before they escalate and are trained in tracking and other important protection techniques across healthcare settings.
