Lynn Bass

Director of Development, Finance & Operations

Lynn Bass joined The Friends of Bassett Healthcare Network in 2022 and is instrumental in providing guidance for accounting functions including planned giving and fund management. 

Lynn’s professional career encompasses over 30 years of accounting, auditing and finance for a variety of nonprofits, the Office of the State Comptroller, and County and State Economic/Community Development. Lynn received a Master of Accountancy from Auburn University, Alabama. Lynn is also certified as an Economic Development Finance Professional by the National Development Council.


Michael Spellman

Major Giving Officer

Michael Spellman joined The Friends of Bassett Healthcare Network in February of 2026.  As Major Giving Officer he collaborates with compassionate community members on the impactful ways their philanthropy can improve healthcare in Central New York. 

Michael holds a bachelor's degree from SUNY Plattsburgh and an associate degree in Broadcasting from Herkimer College. He brings more than two decades of experience in reporting, communications, sales, account management, and client development, including ten years in healthcare staffing. 

Michael lives in the Utica area with his wife, their two children, and the family's dog and cat.

Kim Gustafson

Development Manager, Special Events & Projects

In this role, Kim works directly with the VP, Chief Development Officer, to create and execute events in alignment with the Bassett Healthcare Network brand and fundraising priorities. She manages and coordinates all event and special event operations. 

Kim arrived at Bassett in October of 2020 as Donor Engagement Coordinator for Friends of Bassett. Prior to her arrival Kim worked for International Business Machines. She came to the Bassett Network with over 27 years of experience with IBM in Global Event Coordination, Operations Management and Office Administration. She lives on 230 acres of her family homestead in Richfield Springs.

She and her husband are now empty nesters with twin boys living in St. Charles IL and oldest son living in Columbus Ohio.


Katelyn Dwyer

Development Manager, Operations

Katelyn (Kate) is responsible for gift processing and the quality and structure of the database supporting the fundraising efforts of the Friends of Bassett Team. She manages all the data and oversees prospect research and reporting. She joined the team in 2022, with 12 years of prior experience working in the not-for-profit sector. 

Kate holds a Bachelor’s in Marketing and Management from Siena College and a Certificate in Business Analytics from Harvard Business School Online. Her previous professional experience includes careers in creative marketing, real estate and development, and operations management for senior living communities. 

Kate lives in Cooperstown with her husband. She is the 6th generation in her family to call Otsego County home.
