Long-Term & Short-Term Care
Long-Term Care
At the heart of VHS' mission is our commitment to providing access to a continuum of long-term care services when families need it. Providing quality nursing for every level of care is the core of our mission. What sets our facility apart is our emphasis on treatment of the entire person - body, mind, and spirit - with equal emphasis.
Our skilled nursing level of care allows VHS to care for the most complex cases. With a full-time, on-site medical director whom is board certified in Geriatrics and as an affiliate of Bassett, we provide you with access to Bassett-physician groups and ancillary services such as:
- Podiatry
- Pharmacy
- Ophthalmology
- Hospice
Helping our residents maintain and/or improve functioning on all levels - physical, psychological and social - through rehabilitation is our goal. Our full-time rehabilitative staff make daily occupational, physical and speech rehabilitation available to our 160 residents when needed to maintain strength and improve the level of function.
Short-Term Care
The short-term rehabilitative services at VHS are available for patients who have been recently discharged from the hospital, and need to gain strength and restore independence before going home. Intense physical and occupational therapies help patients recover from:
- Hip fracture repairs
- Cardiac surgeries
- Knee and hip implants
- Strokes Injuries and falls
- Acute illnesses
- Spine surgeries
- Wound care - in an effort to better serve our residential population with equal emphasis on mind, body and spirit, our nurses are certified in wound and skin care management by the Wound Care Educational Institute. This specialized training prepares our nursing staff to keep current with standards of care practice and make a difference in our patients' lives.
