Our Facility
Valley Health Services (VHS) provides a comfortable nursing and rehabilitation facility in Herkimer, NY. We provide specialized care for long-term and short-term patients in a quiet, centrally located setting to keep your loved ones close to home, and our indoor and outdoor amenities allows for patients and their families to feel at home during their time at VHS.
The Activities Room at VHS serves as the focal point for many resident programs, special events, and Adult Day Health Care activities such as sensory awareness, Bingo, Catholic mass or Eucharistic visits, and musical programs. The Activities Department staff take great pride in providing a variety of activities that are designed to help each adult maintain or improve current levels of wellness and functional ability. A monthly calendar of events is publicized to residents and staff.
The Sun Room at VHS is a great location for families and residents to get together for a visit. Whether it is an informal chat or a family event, the Sun Room is a good place to sit and enjoy the sun when it is too cold or too hot to be outside. The Sun Room overlooks VHS' manicured grounds and the gazebo, yet another nice venue for family gatherings. For family celebrations, the Sun Room can be reserved by contacting (315) 866-3330 extension 2227 or 2228.
The Memorial Garden provides a serene location outdoors for patients to get fresh air. You can gather with friends and family or enjoy the nice gazebo for a picnic lunch. The Memorial Garden is located outside of Valley Health Services’ Adult Day Health Care Center and features a fountain topped with two doves, stone bench, decorative bushes and flowers, and a brick-lined sidewalk.
VHS offers the use of the Family Dining Room on the first floor for special family celebrations or get-togethers. While your loved one is staying with us, if you would like to host a special dinner, birthday or other celebration, the Family Dining Room is a great location to do so. Our Social Services’ staff provide support for you and your family, assisting you with accessing information and resources regarding your loved one’s stay at VHS. The Office of Social Services is located on the first floor of the facility. You can reach the Director of Social Services by telephone at (315) 866-3330 extension 2298.
Our courteous and friendly reception staff at VHS are available to answer any questions and/or provide you with directions to your designated location. At VHS, the reception desk is located on the ground floor with an adjacent waiting area as well as a comfortable first floor sitting space.
