Arriving at Bassett Medical Center (BMC)
What to bring to the hospital for your stay
- We will supply all clothing and linens but please bring a small overnight bag with personal items such as toiletries, comfortable clothing, and footwear for your discharge
- Slippers or other non-slip footwear
- List of medications and vitamins or supplements you take (include the name, strength, and dose/frequency)
- Telephone contact numbers of family and friends
- Insurance card, photo identification, and/or social security card
- Copy of any advanced directives you may have in effect
What not to bring to the hospital
- Valuables including jewelry
- Large sums of cash or credit cards (patients do not normally need any cash while they are here)
Patient drop-off/pick-up
Patients should be dropped off and picked up at the Emergency Room entrance. We recommend that your family member park in the lot between the hospital and clinic buildings until you are discharged. To accommodate our patients arriving by car or ambulance, as well as patients ready to go home, there is no parking at the Emergency Room entrance. The circular Emergency Room driveway is for immediate pick-ups and drop-offs only.
