Physiatry Services

Physical Medicine & Rehab (PM&R)

Our program physicians offer a full range of diagnostic and therapeutic options, including:

  • Interventional pain management / physiatry: restoring function and reducing chronic pain
  • Injection therapy: including nerve blocks, Radiofrequency ablations, epidural steroid injections, sacroiliac injections, spinal cord stimulators, and other joint injections
  • Nerve stimulator implant: a medical device that delivers electrical impulses to specific nerves to reduce chronic pain
  • EMG testing (electromyography): evaluating muscle and nerve function to guide treatment
  • Osteopathic manipulative medicine (OMM): hands-on techniques to realign bones and joints, improve circulation, and provide muscle tension relief

Radiofrequency Ablation for Pain Relief

For patients with chronic pain that has not improved with other treatments, our specialists may recommend Radiofrequency ablation therapy. This minimally invasive procedure uses targeted heat or radiofrequency energy to interrupt pain signals from nerves.

Radiofrequency ablation can provide long-lasting relief for conditions such as:

  • Arthritis-related back or neck pain
  • Chronic joint pain
  • Nerve-related pain syndromes

Many patients experience significant reductions in pain and improvements in daily function following Radiofrequency ablation treatment.

EMG Testing for Muscle & Nerve Health

This diagnostic test measures electrical activity in muscles to determine whether pain, weakness, or numbness is caused by nerve or muscle dysfunction.

EMG testing is especially helpful for diagnosing conditions such as:

  • Herniated discs
  • Neuropathy
  • Peripheral nerve injury or peripheral mononeuropathy
  • Peripheral polyneuropathy
  • Radiculopathy
  • Unexplained muscle pain or weakness

Conditions We Treat

We provide expert care a variety of conditions, including:

  • Chronic spine pain
  • Herniated or degenerative discs
  • Nerve pain, including radiculopathy
  • Arthritis and joint pain
  • Work-related or sports-related injuries
