Power to Survive Cancer Recovery Program

Power to Survive is a fitness program available at The Clark Sports Center in Cooperstown, Y Specialty Fitness in Oneonta,  The Cardio Club & Delhi Dance Studio in Delhi, NY, and Live Well Fitness Little Falls and Live Well Fitness Health & Wellness Center in St. Johnsville, NY designed to help cancer survivors regain their strength after completing their cancer treatment. These programs focus on helping survivors regain their strength and overall wellness. All cancer survivors who live in our community are welcome to participate, regardless of when or where their treatment was completed.

Physician / Health Clearance Form

After you've been recommended to this program by your practitioner, print and complete one of the below forms (including having your oncologist / physician sign the form as well) depending on which location you'd like to attend:

The Clark Sports Center

To learn more about the Power to Survive Fitness Program at The Clark Sports Center in Cooperstown, call (607) 547-2800 and ask to speak with Rich Jantzi, Fitness Director.

To register, complete the Physician / Health Clearance Form (including having your oncologist / physician sign the form as well) and either drop it off in-person at The Clark Sports Center, or fax it to Rich at (607) 547-4100.

The Clark Sports Center Power to Survive Program is FREE and does not require a membership.

Y Specialty Fitness

To learn more about the Power to Survive Fitness Program at Y Specialty Fitness in Oneonta, call (607) 431-5454 and ask to speak with Celeste Gray, Member Services Leader.

To register, complete the Physician / Health Clearance Form (including having your oncologist / physician sign the form as well) and either drop it off in-person at Y Specialty Fitness, or fax it to Celeste at (607) 431-5192.

After completing this form, you will also need to complete the membership application, if you are not already a member. The Y Specialty Fitness Power to Survive Program is $51 for the 8-weeks, and participants are considered Y Specialty Fitness members with full access granted to all fitness facility areas — including the pool area and Group Fitness Class participation.

The Cardio Club & Delhi Dance Studio

The Cardio Club & Delhi Dance Studio's Power to Survive Program offers a 50% discount on their first month’s gym, infrared sauna, and/or class fee. The Cardio Club has 24/7 access to a full-service gym, group fitness classes and an infrared sauna available. A personal trainer is available to answer questions and provide personal assistance if need be. The Cardio Club staff will make every effort to make working out less intimidating and create pathways to knock down the barriers people feel to exercise.

Live Well Fitness

To register, complete the Physician / Health Clearance Form (including having your oncologist / physician sign the form as well) and either drop it off in-person at either Live Well Fitness location, or email it to Kelly at kellyfit.nutrition@yahoo.com.

Live Well Fitness' Power to Survive Program is $45 for the 8-weeks, and participants are granted 24/7 access to gym membership, and a 30-minute introductory session with a personal trainer to answer questions, plan a program, or get acquainted with gym equipment and proper use.

Cancer Survivor Program Potential Outline

Generally, the Power to Survive fitness program spans eight weeks, with two 45-minute classes per week. Please speak with each individual fitness program to learn more about how their program is set-up.

Day 1: Functional Movement Screen & Introduction to Cardio Equipment
Day 2: Introduction to Kinesis Equipment & 20 Minutes of Cardio

Day 1: Kinesis Workout & Cardio
Day 2: Kinesis Workout & Cardio (targeting different muscle groups)

(The instructor will determine if moving to this step is appropriate) 
Day 1: Introduction to Technogym Circuit, Lower Body, & Cardio 
Day 2: Introduction to Technogym Circuit, Upper Body, & Cardio

Day 1: Technogym Circuit, Lower Body, & Cardio
Day 2: Technogym Circuit, Lower Body, & Cardio

Weeks 2, 4, 6, & 8 will include special sessions on nutrition and other topics to promote wellness.
