Siarra Goodhue and Jessica Roe have been awarded the 2019 Joanne Burdick Scholarship by the A.O. Fox Hospital Auxiliary.

The scholarship was established in 1997 in honor of Joanne Burdick, now the former director of volunteer services at A.O. Fox Hospital. The $2,000 scholarship is awarded annually to two area high school graduates who are pursuing majors in the health care field. At least one of the recipients must declare a major in nursing. Since the formation of the scholarship, the A.O. Fox Auxiliary has awarded a total of $96,000 to 49 students, made entirely possible by volunteer work.

Goodhue, the daughter of Clyde Goodhue of Oneonta, graduated in June from Oneonta High School. She is entering a five-year physician assistant program at the Rochester Institute of Technology.

Roe, the daughter of Kevin and Brenda Roe of Oneonta, is a June graduate of Charlotte Valley Central School. She will be attending SUNY Delhi to pursue a career in nursing.

The students were honored at a reception on July 30 in the flower gardens of A.O. Fox Nursing Home.
