Bassett Healthcare Network recently announced three of its caregivers as recipients of the 2023 William F. Streck, MD Fellowship in Health Policy and Management: Dr. Timothy P. Korytko, Chief of Radiation Oncology; Muhammad Bilal, MBBS, Resident at Bassett Medical Center; and Jennifer Hecox, Service Line Director of Women's Health and Outpatient Psychiatry. This fellowship will allow these three caregivers, chosen from among a pool of nine potential recipients, to attend continuing medical education programs that can prepare them for future challenges in healthcare.

Dr. William Streck served as Bassett Healthcare Network's President and CEO for two stretches of its recent history: first from 1984 to 2014, and then again from 2018 to 2020. This namesake fellowship, created in 2014 to celebrate Dr. Streck's first 30-year tenure, provides non-degree educational and practical experiences for Bassett Healthcare Network medical, nursing, and administrative staff members. This endowment is an investment in Bassett's role as a leader in rural healthcare.

The award committee was pleased to have nine applicants for this year's fellowship.

  • Dr. Timothy P. Korytko will be attending the 2024 Chartis Clinical Quality Solutions Leadership Seminar.
  • Dr. Muhammad Bilal will be attending the Weill Cornell Strategic Healthcare Leadership Program.
  • Jennifer Hecox will be attending the 2024 AHA Rural Healthcare Leadership Conference.

Congratulations to all three recipients!
