Lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer death, taking more lives annually than breast, prostate and colon cancers combined. This disease has touched many in our area, and on Nov. 8, in order to raise awareness of this disease, Bassett will join other advocates and survivors for Shine a Light in the Bassett Medical Center Clinic lobby to provide hope, inspiration and support for those impacted by lung cancer.
Together we will join in remembrance and support of our friends and family touched by lung cancer by lighting a candle for each of them, enjoying raffles, music, and light refreshments, and listening to speakers from the cancer community, including Dr. Anush Patel, MD, chief of hematology/oncology, will present "Lung Cancer: An Oncologist's Perspective." There will also be raffles, live music, light refreshments and candle-lighting for those who have or have had lung cancer.
Shine a Light is a free, community-based event taking place at 200 health care facilities nationwide in partnership with the Lung Cancer Alliance, one of the nation's leading patient advocacy organizations.
