Herkimer, NY – Rose Lamphere, RN, Medicare Coordinator at Valley Health Services, has been honored with LeadingAge NY’s Employee of Distinction Award.
The award recognizes extraordinary commitment to the residents of nursing homes by both direct care and indirect care staff members. The honoree must illustrate a positive effect on the lives of the residents as well as a strong commitment to their facility.
The nomination noted Rose Lamphere’s progression in her 26-year career at Valley Health Services, beginning as an LPN Charge Nurse, to becoming a Registered Nurse (RN) and the Nursing Care Coordinator, to her current role of Medicare Coordinator for all residents of the facility.
Rose, affectionately known as “Peaches,” was declared by supporters of her nomination to be a leader with an “all hands on deck” and “full steam ahead” approach to her work for the benefit of the residents of Valley Health Services.
“Peaches leads by example and is a true inspiration and credit to her profession,” said Lisa Betrus, MBA, LNHA, Senior Vice President, Chief Administrative & Strategy Officer of Bassett Healthcare Network, Chief Administrative Officer of Valley Health Services & Valley Residential Services.
Valley Health Services (VHS) is a 160-bed long-term care and rehabilitation facility offering inpatient and outpatient services. VHS has been a major healthcare provider and vital community asset in Herkimer, New York since its founding in 1984. It is a part of Bassett Healthcare Network.
Karen Lipson, Executive Vice President for Innovation Strategies of LeadingAge NY, was present for the award ceremony and noted Peaches’ dedication to the residents. During and following the pandemic, prior to the start of her day’s work in case management, she also assisted with early morning patient care. Following her workday, she often also stayed to take on medication nurse duties and admitting new residents — which she continues to do to this day.
