Lisa M. Betrus, president of Bassett Healthcare Network's Valley Health Services (VHS) and Valley Residential Services (VRS) in Herkimer, and senior vice president, chief strategy and transformation officer of Bassett Healthcare Network, has been selected as one of the Mohawk Valley's Women of Distinction.
Betrus was honored at a special ceremony hosted by Marianne Buttenschon, New York State Assemblywoman, on April 14, at the Utica State Office Building. The award, given annually, highlights and honors area women who have worked tirelessly to support their communities and effect positive change, according to Buttenschon.
Betrus has been with VHS/VRS in Herkimer since 1998. In addition to her duties as a long-term care administrator, her role expanded in 2017 to include vice president for continuum of care at Bassett Healthcare Network. In 2020, she was named a senior vice president, overseeing Bassett Healthcare Network's strategic growth initiatives and development. She supports the operational deployment of transformative care delivery models across the health system and leads ambulatory service operations.
"I extend my sincere congratulations to Lisa," says Dr. Tommy Ibrahim, President & CEO of Bassett Healthcare Network.
"This is truly a well-deserved honor. Her leadership, expertise, and devotion to our communities are evident in everything she does. We are incredibly fortunate to have Lisa as such an integral part of the Bassett Healthcare Network family and as a passionate advocate for residents across our region."
On receiving the award, Betrus commented,
"I am honored and humbled to accept this prestigious recognition. It truly takes a village to accomplish exceptional care and community service every day, and my teams at VHS, VRS, and around Bassett Healthcare Network prove every day what heroes are made of. It is a privilege to care for aging adults – they have shaped the communities in which we live and have given us so much. It's an honor to give back to them."
Prior to her tenure at Bassett Healthcare Network, Betrus held a variety of roles with long-term care organizations throughout the Mohawk Valley.
Betrus holds a B.S. in health administration and an M.B.A. from Sage University. She is a licensed New York State Nursing Home Administrator. She has received regional and national recognition for her work in long-term care and service to her community.
