Amy Grace, MD, was named an Outstanding Healthcare Professional by the Genesis Group and the Medical Societies of Oneida, Herkimer and Madison counties at their annual Healthcare Recognition ceremony May 24 at Hart's Hill Inn in Whitesboro. The award recognizes excellence in the workplace and community.

Grace, who has been with Bassett Healthcare Network since 2008, is a family practice physician and medical director for Bassett's Little Falls primary care health center. In this role she is responsible for the care of more than 2,000 patients and also provides clinical oversight of a family nurse practitioner and another physician at the Little Falls practice. Dr. Grace also serves as president of the Little Falls Hospital staff.

In addition to her commitment to her patients, Dr. Grace has volunteered with the local Pop Warner football league, providing sports physicals for the teams. She also serves as the medical director and school physician for the Frankfort-Schuyler, Herkimer, Little Falls, Poland, West Canada, and Owen D. Young school districts, and for Herkimer BOCES. In this capacity, she provides grade-level and athletic physicals, and she reviews school medical policies and procedures to assure compliance with pertinent regulations.

"I really enjoy being part of the community of Little Falls and providing care to the people of the Mohawk Valley," said Grace. "All three of our children have participated in athletics here, and I have been in awe of the countless hours that volunteer coaches spend coaching youth sports. I started volunteering with Pop Warner football as a way to contribute to the programs that have benefited our children so positively and I love football!

"I am fortunate to have Katie Scanlon, FNP, and Dr. Taylen Peaden as colleagues, They, along with every member of the staff here, share the same vision of providing quality and compassionate care to our patients in Little Falls."

Bassett Healthcare Network regional medical director Dr. David Haswell said, "Dr. Grace demonstrates unwavering commitment to her patients, community and family on a daily basis. She is compassionate and the consummate medical professional, patient advocate and community member. This honor is acknowledgement of that, and we're proud our colleague has received this recognition from the Genesis Group and medical societies."

Grace and her husband Geoffrey have three children, and the family owns and operates a dairy farm in Little Falls.
