Bassett Healthcare Network on Monday, April 6, submitted a plan to the New York State Department of Health for how the network can assist our downstate colleagues with COVID-19 patient treatment supplies, if called upon.

It is important to note the network’s supply of equipment, such as ventilators, remains local and would be redeployed only if called upon by the governor and NYSDOH. Further, the quantity of equipment released by BHN would depend on the situation locally and be balanced with the needs of our patients and the need to assist the downstate response.

Within the Bassett Healthcare Network service region, the following summarizes the current situation:

  • As of Tuesday, April 7, approximately 1,200 tests for COVID-19 have been completed throughout the Bassett Healthcare Network with a 10% rate of positive tests.
  • As of April 7, there were 16 COVID-19 patients hospitalized in the Bassett network. To date, the majority of hospitalized patients have recovered and been discharged home.
  • There have been several thousand calls to the network’s hotline 607-547-5555, which is a screening triage line used to identify individuals who should be given an appointment to be tested at one of several screening sites in the Bassett network.
  • 126 individuals were screened at the external screening locations Monday, April 6.
Over 1,000 people have utilized the network’s online COVID-19 screening assessment at Bassett.org/covid-19.
  • Bassett practitioners daily are completing several hundred virtual patient visits (phone or video). This includes for COVID-19 and routine primary care or specialty visits.

To date, the numbers have remained fairly steady with a slight uptick in positives due to expanded testing. Continue to visit Bassett Healthcare Network’s COVID-19 response page at Bassett.org/covid-19 for resources related to the pandemic.
