Congratulations are in order for the members of Cobleskill Regional Hospital's Sleep Lab for their recent reaccreditation with the American Academy of Sleep Medicine (AASM). "This was truly a team effort," says Kelly Cleaveland, manager of network Sleep Lab Services.
"A lot of hard work went into this. It could not have been completed so successfully and smoothly without help from every member of my team."
The reaccreditation process includes a complete review of a lab's policies and procedures for patients, providers, consults, lab resources, and quality assurance. It culminates with a site visit and interviews with key staff members. The final accreditation confirms that Cobleskill Regional Hospital's Sleep Lab follows all of AASM's guidelines — the gold standard of the field.
"Nine times out of ten after a site visit a lab will be given a list of provisions they have to make in order to complete their reaccreditation," explains Cleaveland.
"I am especially proud that AASM did not require any provisions whatsoever — in fact, everything we submitted was highly praised. It was wonderful. This is an excellent sleep lab and a wonderful team."
Cobleskill Regional Hospital's Sleep Lab includes five providers, four network coordinators, and four sleep techs. Together, they typically see 800 to 900 patients a year. Cobleskill's AASM accreditation will last until 2026.
