On October 24, Bassett Healthcare Network's Director of Legislative Affairs Carolyn Lewis was among a class of seven distinguished local community members honored with The Genesis Group's Joseph R. Carucci Legacy Award.
Lewis advocates for Bassett Healthcare Network with state and federal lawmakers in Albany and Washington, D.C., informing legislators about the needs of the patients and caregivers in our rural communities as they make policy and budgetary decisions. She has been a Bassett employee for eight years, before which she worked in economic development for SUNY Oneonta and Otsego County.
"This award is an honor that I see as a testament to the positive impact Bassett Healthcare Network has on the Mohawk Valley as a whole," said Lewis.
"I believe strongly in the work Bassett is accomplishing as a non-profit organization, dedicated to promoting the health of our neighbors, educating future medical professionals, and conducting innovative research. Thank you to The Genesis Group for including me on the distinguished list of Joseph R. Carucci Legacy Award winners, past and present."
The Genesis Group is a Utica-based organization committed to uniting businesses and community leaders in a cooperative mission to advance regional, economic, social, and cultural interests. It was founded in 2000 by Joseph R. Carucci. Before he passed away in 2010 at 69 years old, Carucci was a highly respected developer and real estate broker, involved in many community organizations and projects. His namesake award honors individuals who exemplify the same hard work and dedication to the community.
