Bassett Healthcare Network’s Nurse Residency Program Graduates its First Class

On July 12, 2024, Bassett's Nurse Residency program celebrated the graduation of its first cohort of nurses.

"We are very excited to graduate this cohort of nurses this year," says Dr. Angela Belmont, DNP, RN, NEA-BC, Senior Vice President and Chief Nursing Executive for Bassett Healthcare Network.

"This program that is supported by all of the nursing leadership team demonstrates our commitment to retention of our nurses as well as better outcomes for our patients. Congratulations to all!"

Bassett's Nurse Residency program is a year-long formal program designed to support recently graduated registered nurses as they transition into their first professional roles. The program gained accreditation through the ANCC Practice Transition Accreditation Program® (PTAP) in 2022, which sets the global standard for residency programs that transition RNs into new practice settings. Over the course of 12 months, Nurse Residents in the program attend relevant seminars, participate in clinical simulations, and work on evidence-based clinical champion projects.
