Arts in Health at Bassett

Engaging in creative experiences is vital to human health and well-being. The Arts in Health program at Bassett supports the overall mission of improving the wellness of our patients, caregivers, and communities by enriching the healthcare environment with visual, literary, and performing arts. A growing body of evidence supports that art in the clinical workplace can greatly improve the emotional and physical well-being of patients, visitors, and staff. The Arts in Health program aims to meet this objective by facilitating hands-on art activities, hosting live music in common areas of the hospital, increasing the hospital’s permanent art collection for public viewership, and more.

Bassett’s Arts in Health program follows the guidance offered by the National Organization for Arts in Health (NOAH) by adopting and upholding the Code of Ethics and Standards established by this group of experts. Through research and experience, we know that the arts are an integral component to health. NOAH is committed to shaping a reality where that fact is accepted and incorporated into medical treatment, the spectrum of healthcare education, public health, and overall well-being.
