knight.jpgDr. Reginald Knight is an orthopedic surgeon with the Bassett Spine Care Institute. He received his medical degree from the State University of New York at Upstate Medical Center. He continued his training at New York Medical College, where he completed a residency program in Orthopaedic Surgery. He then went on to complete a fellowship in Spinal Surgery at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester, N.Y.

Dr. Knight is a member of numerous prestigious medical organizations including the North American Spine Society, American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, National Medical Association, Orthopaedic Research Society, Scoliosis Research Society and Founding member of the Society for Minimally Invasive Spine Surgery.

His interest and expertise in clinical research has allowed him to publish over 50 articles and abstracts in medical journals such as the Spine Journal, Journal of Orthopaedic Trauma, and the Journal of Spinal Disorders. He has also made numerous presentations both in the United States and at international medical meetings and conferences.

hornyak.jpgDr. Mark Hornyak is the Chief of Neurosurgery at Bassett Medical Center and a spinal neurosurgeon with the Bassett Spine Care Institute. He received his medical degree from the University of Maryland School of Medicine, Baltimore, Maryland. He continued his medical training at New York Medical College where he completed his neurosurgery residency. He later completed a fellowship in skull base surgery at the University of Utah in Salt Lake City.

Dr. Hornyak is a member of several prestigious medical organizations including the American Association of Neurological Surgeons, the Congress of Neurological Surgeons, and the North American Skull Base Society. He is board certified by the American Board of Neurological Surgery and has received many honors and awards throughout his training and career.

He has coauthored multiple peer-reviewed publications and provided lectures & presentations to neurosurgery students and his peers throughout the United States and abroad.

Prior to joining the Bassett Healthcare Network Dr Hornyak was the Chief of Neurosurgery at Detroit Receiving Hospital, Detroit, MI.

Dr Hornyak treats a variety of spinal conditions affecting the cervical, thoracic and lumbar regions as well as specializing in brain and skull base surgery. He sees patients in Cooperstown at the Surgical Outpatient Clinic, in Oneonta at Oneonta Surgical Specialties (OSS) and in Herkimer at the Herkimer Health Center.

desantis.jpgDr. Emily DeSantis is a physiatrist with the Bassett Spine Care Institute. She is dual board certified by the American Osteopathic Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and the American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. Dr. DeSantis has clinical interests in spine and extremity pain, musculoskeletal medicine, osteopathic manipulation and electrodiagnostics.

She received her Bachelor of Science, cum laude, degree at Union College (Schenectady, N.Y.) and received a doctor of osteopathic medicine degree at the University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine (Biddeford, Maine). Dr. DeSantis completed an osteopathic internship at Ingham Regional Medical Center (Lansing, Michigan). At Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine she completed a physical medicine and rehabilitation residency where she was co-chief resident from 2007 to 2008. During her residency, she also completed a health policy studies fellowship through the New York Institute of Technology, New York College of Osteopathic Medicine. In 2009, she completed an Interventional Spine and Musculoskeletal Medicine fellowship at Southwest Spine and Sports in Scottsdale, Arizona.

She is a member of numerous prestigious medical organizations including the International Spine Intervention Society and American Association of Neuromuscular and Electrodiagnostic Medicine, American Osteopathic College of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, American Osteopathic Association and The Cranial Academy.

Dr. DeSantis offers non-operative, non-pharmacologic diagnostic and therapeutic options for management of spine and musculoskeletal problems, which include injections, electrodiagnostic testing, and osteopathic manipulative treatment. ramasamy.jpgDr. Muthu Ramasamy is a physiatrist with the Bassett Spine Care Institute. He received his medical degree from Stanley Medical College in Chennai, India, where he also obtained a post graduate degree in orthopedics. He then went on to receive a fellowship degree from the Royal College of Edinburgh and completed a residency program in physical medicine and rehabilitation at Albany Medical Center Hospital in Albany, N.Y. In addition to physical medicine and rehabilitation, he is also board certified in pain medicine, spinal cord medicine and sports medicine.

Dr. Ramasamy is a member of numerous prestigious medical organizations including the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and the American Society of Interventional Pain Physicians.

 


 

tatli.jpgDr. Yusuf Tatli is a board certified physiatrist at the Bassett Spine Care Institute specializing in non-operative spine and sports medicine care, including fluoroscopically guided interventional procedures. He received his medical degree from Istanbul University in Turkey. He continued his training at New York-Presbyterian, the University Hospital of Columbia and Cornell, where he completed a residency program in physical medicine and rehabilitation. He then went on to complete a fellowship in spine and sports medicine at the Hospital for Special Surgery, New York, N.Y. Prior to joining the Bassett Spine Care Institute, he served as an assistant professor of physical medicine and rehabilitation at Tufts University School of Medicine and co-director of the Spine Clinic at Tufts Medical Center in Boston, Mass.

Dr. Tatli is a member of numerous prestigious medical organizations including the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, North American Spine Society, International Spine Intervention Society, New York Society of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and The American College of Sports Medicine.

His interest and expertise in musculoskeletal clinical research has led to publication of articles in the Spine Journal, the Musculoskeletal Journal of Hospital for Special Surgery and the Journal of Current Reviews in Musculoskeletal Medicine. He has written book chapters about spine and shoulder disorders. He has also made presentations at national scientific meetings such as the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, the North American Spine Society and New York Society of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation.


 

white.jpgDr. Brian White is a physiatrist with the Bassett Spine Care Institute specializing in non-surgical spine and musculoskeletal care as well as electrodiagnostic medicine. He received his medical degree from Midwestern University, Arizona College of Osteopathic Medicine and completed a transitional internship at Bassett Medical Center in Cooperstown. Subsequently he underwent residency training in physical medicine and rehabilitation at the Kessler Institute for Rehabilitation/UMDNJ New Jersey Medical School residency program. His training continued with a year of fellowship training in interventional pain and electrodiagnostic medicine at University of Massachusetts medical center in Worcester, Mass.
Dr. White is a board certified physiatrist and a diplomate of the American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. He is also a member of numerous prestigious medical organizations including the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (AAPMR), the North American Spine Society (NASS), the International Spine Intervention Society (ISIS), the American Society of Interventional Pain Physicians (ASIPP), the American Association of Neuromuscular and Electrodiagnostic Medicine (AANEM) and the American Osteopathic Association (AOA).

His interests include non-surgical spine and musculoskeletal care as well as electrodiagnostic medicine. These interests, and expertise in clinical research, have led to publications in the American Journal of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Medicine and Science in Sports and Exercise, and the Archives of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. He has also presented at national scientific meetings such as the American College of Sports Medicine, and the Association of Academic Physiatrists annual conferences. Other recent publications include textbook chapters in ‘McLean Course in Electrodiagnostic Medicine,' ‘Injection Procedures: Osteoarthritis and Related Conditions,' and ‘Nerve and Vascular Injuries in Sports Medicine.’

Prior to training as a physiatrist and a career in medicine, Dr. White was an elite level road cyclist who competed in the U.S. Olympic Trials in 1992 and 1996, numerous National Championship events, and represented the U.S. cycling team in multiple international stage races. His sports background also includes coaching both road cyclists and alpine skiers, and he has had the privilege of working with a broad range of athletes from entry level competitors to Junior Olympic level competitors, to U.S. National Champions.
