Training and support for in-home peritoneal dialysis and hemodialysis
Treatment for kidney disease can be difficult. Our team is dedicated to providing compassionate and comprehensive care to make it easier and more comfortable for our patients. We work with you to help you lead a healthier and more satisfying life.
Our centers are staffed by doctors and nurses who are experts in internal medicine and nephrology (kidney treatment). Vascular surgeons make rounds in each of our centers. We are very proud of the results we help our patients achieve. Our doctors are involved in research to improve dialysis and kidney treatment and we strive to bring the results of this research into the daily care of our patients.
According to the latest studies, the survival rate of our patients is better than expected—only 2% of dialysis units nationwide can make this claim. We treat as many of our patients as possible through AV fistulas. This method, which uses the patient’s own blood vessels, is the one most often recommended by the Centers of Medicare and Medicaid Services. Bassett Healthcare Network dialysis centers have documented lower rates of infection than the national benchmark; this is an important measure that is proven to improve mortality.
Comfortable, Convenient Locations
Our three locations provide state of the art dialysis in a comfortable and relaxing setting. Each station has a fully reclining chair and personal TV with cable programming. We offer an in-center DVD player for your education and enjoyment. There is plenty of room for a family member or friend to visit while you receive your treatment.

Patient and Family Education
Bassett Healthcare Network Dialysis Centers provide education to assist individuals and their families choosing a form of renal replacement therapy.
In hemodialysis, a machine filters wastes and fluid from your blood when your kidneys are no longer healthy enough to do this work. Hemodialysis is the most common way to treat advanced, permanent kidney failure.
During peritoneal dialysis, blood vessels in your abdominal lining (peritoneum) fill in for your kidneys, with the help of a fluid (dialysate) that flows into and out of the peritoneal space.
Many patients are candidates for our home dialysis program. Through this program, patients are able to safely treat themslves in the comfort of their home, at work or while traveling. Patients who choose and successfully perform this treatment gain an additional level of independence and do not have to adjust their lifestyle to a relatively fixed in-center hemodialysis schedule. The home dialysis program has a dedicated set of nurses who provide self-care education, ongoing support and follow-up once our patients start self-treatment at home.
