Bassett Healthcare Network Adopts New Billing, Registration and Scheduling System and A.O. Fox Hospital Transitions Electronic Medical Records to Epic.
On April 1, 2017, all hospitals and health centers within the Bassett Healthcare Network will transition to a new billing, registration and scheduling system that is seamlessly connected to Bassett Healthcare Network’s electronic health record system. In addition, A.O. Fox Hospital and the physicians at A.O. Fox will transition to the Bassett Healthcare Network electronic health record system, Epic. This change will create a seamless patient experience from check in to billing. Not only will patients have access to their personal health record through our secure patient portal, MyBassett, they will be able to communicate with physicians on non-urgent issues, access consolidated billing statements, make payments, receive appointment reminders and request a prescription renewal, all online. In the future, we will be adding online registration and online appointment scheduling for some Bassett Medical Group providers.
For A.O. Fox patients, this powerful electronic health record will bring each patient’s health information into a single Bassett Healthcare Network medical record, so you will have one record no matter where you are seen within the Bassett network. The A.O. Fox providers are also becoming Bassett Medical Group providers on April 1, 2017.
What does this change mean to all of our patients? Here are some Frequently Asked Questions to help you understand the changes.
My Medical Record
Why is my electronic health record so important?
An electronic health record is a digital version of your chart that can be shared by doctors, hospitals and patients. With a single patient record spanning all points of care, hard-to-find information becomes a thing of the past. Those results and notes generated during your visit to the hospital, physician office, or satellite blood draw station are consolidated, coordinated and accessible in one secure record. Your medical history, allergies, current medications, and all results are entered into the electronic health record. With this secure confidential record, medical providers can respond quickly to deliver the best care possible. A secure, single electronic medical record improves patient safety and the quality of care.
What is MyBassett?
MyBassett is how you, as a patient, view your electronic health record. It gives you the power to view your record, securely from any computer, tablet or smartphone.
If you receive care or have tests performed at any Bassett Healthcare Network hospital, medical clinic, lab or outpatient site, your appointments, test results and visit summaries will be viewable to you on MyBassett. You will also be able to communicate with your physician on non-urgent issues, access consolidated billing statements, make payments, receive appointment reminders and request a prescription renewal, all online. In the future we will be adding online registration and online appointment scheduling for some of the Bassett Medical Group providers.
You can sign-up by visiting www.mybassett.org and asking for an activation code by choosing “Request one now” or at the end of your visit with any Bassett Medical Group or A.O. Fox provider you will receive a printed after-visit summary that includes details about your visit and an activation code to create an account on MyBassett.org.
How do I get access to my electronic health record in MyBassett?
Visit www.mybassett.org and ask for an activation code by choosing “Request one now” or at the end of your visit with any Bassett or A.O. Fox provider, you will receive a printed after-visit summary that includes details about your visit and an activation code to create an account on MyBassett.
Can I access MyBassett on my smartphone or tablet?
Yes. Use your smartphone's browser to visit www.mybassett.org. At the bottom of the page, tap either the Apple App Store for your iPhone or Google Play button for your Android phone. Download the free app for your system and follow the log-in procedure. Note: You cannot use the app to sign up for MyBassett; you must sign up from www.mybassett.org.
Can I view a family member’s health record in MyBassett?
If you're the primary caregiver for children or an adult family member, and already have a MyBassett account, you may receive proxy (approved guest) access to view portions of their medical information. This will be done at an appointment with your loved one to ensure only a person with an established relationship receives proxy access. If proxy access is required before your loved one has an appointment with a healthcare provider, you may complete a form and fax or mail it to the provider's office.
What if I was using FoxConnect?
If you were a patient using FoxConnect, you will now need to create an account in MyBassett. Some information from your FoxConnect medical record will transition to your MyBassett online record. Your physician will continue to be able to see all information from your A.O. Fox Hospital health record within your electronic health record; it just won’t be viewable by you on your new MyBassett account. The visit summaries that are currently available will not be viewable in your MyBassett account, so you may want to print those off if you refer to them regularly. FoxConnect will remain active until April 30 to give you time to print off any visit summaries you would like to keep. After April 30, you will be able to receive copies of the information from Medical Records.
Will my physicians have access to my entire A.O. Fox Medical Record?
Yes. Your entire A.O. Fox electronic health record will be accessible to any of your Bassett Healthcare providers.
